Nansemond Native American Celebration

On April 14th, 2007, "The Old Brick Church" was filled with Nansemond and English alike as they observed the 1638 marriage ceremony between Nansemond Princess Elizabeth and Colonel John Bass. The ceremony was a mixture of Native American customs and English traditions with The Reverend Gary Barker officiating. Later Dr. Helen Rountree was on hand to sign her books. Unfortunately, she was feeling under the weather and could not give her lecture.
